During Lent, food collected at the doors of the Church will be given to the Falls Church Community Service Council food pantry at Knox Presbyterian Church, Food for Others (a food bank which distributes food to many in the northern Virginia area), and distributed through the St. James Food Distribution Program. Please consider donating 5-10 lb. bags of rice or kidney beans, boxes of cereal, tuna, peanut butter, jelly and hearty soups. Your donations can be placed in the boxes near the doors of the Church after any mass. All donations of rice, beans and cereal will remain at St. James and be distributed through its monthly food distribution program.
This weekend, food donated by St. James’ parishioners will be given to the Falls Church Community Service Council (FCS). St. James is a founding member of the council.
FCS maintains a food pantry at Knox Presbyterian Church which provides non-perishable and fresh food to families in need. Volunteer staff at the food pantry deliver food to families six days a week -- Monday through Saturday. Food donations come from member congregations, individuals and local food drives. Additional critical food is purchased when needed as funds are available. Volunteers bag and deliver a week's supply of food to needy clients.
Thank you for your generosity.
