Transitions at St. James

Spring means new beginnings: graduations, weddings, and in our diocese, new assignments for our priests.  Our Pastor, Father Patrick Posey, will be moving to Saint Thomas More parish as its new Rector effective June 27th.  Father will continue to serve as the Diocesan Director for the Pontifical Missions. We will welcome Father Paul Scalia to our parish that same day.  Father Scalia is currently the Episcopal Vicar for the Clergy and Director of the Diaconate Program.

In the 13 years he has led Saint James, Father Posey has done many things to enliven our community, ensure financial security for our parish and school, and improve the safety and security of our campus.  The Legacy of Saint James capital campaign surpassed its goal and still receives donations today.  He oversaw a Strategic Plan for the School, which garnered our Second Blue Ribbon Award for excellence. He embraced technology, the new evangelization and a desire to bring the joy of the Gospel to our families.

Our beautiful campus remains so because of his commitment to investing in long-overdo repairs and maintenance.  From roofs to windows, parking lots to sound systems, security and comfort — and so much more, Father Posey sought to make Saint James a place where everyone could meet Christ in Sacrament and fellowship.

New initiatives included the community Parish Picnic; the Ministry to the Homebound and Sick; the Bereavement Ministry; the Fish Fry; Country Christmas; Parish Summer BBQs; Dinner with the Priests and Sisters; birthday cards; evangelization efforts with countless speakers, and programs; better integration of our Hispanic and Anglo communities; pilgrimages and trips; an Easter Egg Hunt, and too-many-to-count personal letters, calls, and emails to parishioners in need.  He brought our parish family together, and for that and so many other blessings, we are grateful.

PLEASE JOIN US SUNDAY, JUNE 23 FOR FATHER’S FAREWELL MASS AT NOON FOLLOWED BY A RECEPTION IN HELLER HALL
