DIRECTOR OF ADVANCEMENT (Full Time, Paid Staff Position)

Purpose of this Ministry:
With the pastor, to devise and implement a strategic plan of public relations, marketing, fundraising and special events promoting involvement and investment in both the Parish and School. While some of these objectives are financial in nature, the over-arching goal is to bring others to Christ through the Parish’s and School’s education, ministry, and outreach. By working collaboratively with staff, clergy, religious, faculty and volunteers, this position works to ensure that St. James’s mission of Gospel witness continues with vigor and foresight in perpetuity. Average Hours Devoted to this Ministry Each Week: 30+
Position Reports to: Pastor
Qualifications
- Must be a creative and motivated self-starter. Must have the ability to develop, manage, and implement an advancement plan which includes Parish and School constituencies.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be organized and able to coordinate multiple projects with an ability to work across the spectrum of volunteers and staff
- Must have excellent interpersonal and volunteer management skills
- Must have an understanding of Church teaching and of issues confronting parochial education today
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including some weeknights and weekends
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university Familiarity with Excel and Microsoft Publisher preferred.
Responsibilities and Duties of this Position
Public Relations and Marketing (School)
- Coordinates internal and external efforts to maximize student recruitment and retention
- Works closely with School Administration on enrollment management
- Works with School Staff to ensure timely communications to internal and external communities regarding Open Houses and other open School events
- Coordinates with School Staff on review and update of School Brochure
- Coordinates with School Staff on outreach to Pre-Kindergarten parish children
(Parish)
- Works with Pastor and Rectory Staff to promote parish internally and externally via same methods as school
- Works closely with the Communication Specialist on web site content
- Contributes information and promotional material to the weekly parish bulletin, periodic Parish newsletters, and other external communiques as directed by Pastor
Fundraising (School)
- Develop, implement and manage Annual Fund Appeal effort
- Manage Clarke-Delaney Teacher Fund
- Recruit, train, and guide volunteers
- Develop, implement, and manage Scholarship Funding program
(Parish)
- Develop, implement and manage Annual Offertory Program
- Coordinate Bishop’s Lenten Appeal Parish Program (ensuring timely dissemination of Diocesan materials, working with Pastor on public comments, stewardship, analysis)
- Manage fulfillment of Legacy of St. James Capital Campaign
- Provide annual reporting to Parish Finance Council
- Reconciles monthly campaign reporting
- Manages monthly Faith Direct reporting to PDS
Management/General
- Works with Parish and School Staff on various events such as Open Houses, Back to School Nights, Parish Picnic, Volunteer Reception, Faculty Welcome Back Dinner and other events as needed by Pastor or Principal
- Attend Diocesan Development and Marketing Meetings (serve on committees as requested)
- Other stewardship duties as assigned by Pastor
- Develop and manage Advancement budget
