On Monday, December 16, the Filipino community of St. James, along with Filipinos from across the Diocese of Arlington, celebrated the Simbang Gabi night Mass at St. James. This custom dates back to the 16th Century, when Spanish Friars introduced it to the Filipino people. The Mass is part of a Novena to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and is held at Churches around the Diocese. The evening included Mass featuring Filipino sacred songs, followed by a celebration featuring native Filipino foods in Heller Hall.
